Kojo Bekoe-Sakyi

Highlighting our Mechanical Engineering intern from Summer 2021, @Kojo Bekoe-Sakyi.

Now a junior at @Georgia Tech, majoring in Aerospace Engineering and an Inaugural @Patti Grace Smith Fellow. Kojo has loved airplanes ever since he can remember,

“I was very curious when I was younger and had a natural inclination to learn about how machines worked. Eventually, that interest became focused on aviation.” He said, “I remember in first grade I said that I wanted to build airplanes when I grew up and that has not changed up until now.”

For Kojo, #BlackHistoryMonth is

“a time to celebrate the Black people that came before us and took the difficult but necessary steps toward a brighter future for people like me,” and he details his favorite Black figure as being the Tuskeegee Airmen, “they are particularly inspiring to me because of their fearlessness to fight for freedom while simultaneously fighting for their right to fight. The level of skill and discipline they displayed during World War II will forever remain a point of inspiration for me and is why the P 51 mustang is my favorite aircraft of all time!”
