Darron Patterson
Today we highlight Darron Patterson, our Technical Writer in Mobile, Alabama.
For Patterson, #BlackHistoryMonth is more than just a month— his grandfather was among the 110 captives aboard Clotilda, the last illegal slave ship that docked in Mobile. He is now a member of the Clotilda Descendants Association,
“Our goal is to ensure that the legacy of those people who were forced to endure a two-month voyage under deplorable conditions forever lives on.”
Patterson’s cousin, John Shearer, was a #Tuskeegee Airman and flew F-105s,
“I remember him flying into Brookley Air Force Base, then just hanging out in Mobile for a few days before he jumped in the thing and flew away.”
Darron also became the first African American sportswriter at the Mobile Press Register before venturing into other roles.
