Santiago Vazquez

#EngineersWeek: Our Aerospace Engineer/Mechanical Design Engineer, Santiago Vazquez, is leading and assisting in the development and mechanical/electrical design of Airbus’s ArgUS platform -a payload platform that will interface with Bartolomeo on the leading edge of the International Space Station-  as well as providing payload support throughout its lifetime.

All his life, Santiago was intrigued by fighter jets, helicopters, space flight, and all the engineering that makes these technologies a reality.

“I knew from a young age that this is what I wanted to do with my life and be a part of something bigger, something tangible. I have persevered for years to make my dream a reality. I feel included in important decisions and I know that my voice is heard. Even if I am somewhat new to the field, my input is valued and I am trusted with important tasks. Finally, I can call myself an Aerospace Engineer and say that my dream has come true!”

Santiago’s favorite part of his job is having opportunities to gain experience and work on different aspects of an engineering project,

“whether that be assisting in avionics work, implementing the use of 3D printing in our shop, working with the mechanical/electrical sides of design and even visiting satellite building facilities to better understand the manufacturing process.”
