Scott Tesser

Happy #EngineersWeek! Today we highlight Scott Tesser, our Zephyr Flight Operations and Payload Engineer, who is responsible for working on payloads and then remotely piloting the aircraft they are on.

Scott describes the 2022 Zephyr flight campaign as his favorite and most challenging project that he’s worked on at Airbus so far, “we designed our payload and went from concept to installation on an aircraft in around 6 months of time.” Scott and his team later helped operate a Zephyr aircraft for over 64 days of flight and broke records, “none of this would have been possible without the excellent team I’m privileged to be a part of on both the flight operations and engineering groups. Plus I never thought I’d be an aviation record holder this early in my career!”

Growing up in Wichita, Kansas, also known as the ‘Air Capital of the World,’ Scott recalls how he was always interested in aviation, “my parents were both boom operators on the KC-135, and my grandfather was a B-52 pilot. I was surrounded by all sorts of aircraft that inspired me to want to work on, design, and pilot them. My life goal has always been to push the boundary of what’s possible and move humanity forwards. I’m incredibly lucky to be doing that every day with Zephyr.”
