As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, we highlight Sophie Recio, who is the Executive Affairs Manager for Airbus U.S. Space & Defense’s Chief Technology Officer and Engineering team, located in Denver, Co.

Recio’s journey to the Airbus U.S. Space & Defense team began in the oil and gas industry. After spending 15 years as a Project and Business Development Coordinator, and facing burnout, she decided to create her own wellness company, Solistic Soul.

“During that time, I learned that self-care and mindfulness are non-negotiable in navigating one’s career path,” she said.

Recio felt called back to the corporate space to share her insights with fellow employees.

“Joining this team has been an incredible experience,” she said. “The best way to describe working at Airbus U.S. is a breath of fresh, exciting, and innovative air.”

In the two years here, Recio has especially enjoyed helping open the Denver office to bridge the East and West coasts. She also values any opportunity to get to know her colleagues better.

“Every day, I look forward to connecting with my colleagues and learning more about the diverse paths that brought them here,” she said. “Understanding others’ paths helps me to build trust within our teams.”

Outside of work, Recio enjoys practicing and teaching yoga classes and spending time in nature. She takes pride in her cultural background and values being part of a company that celebrates diversity.
