Meet Sean Khomphengchan, a Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense who supports the GNC team and Flight Software team for the ARROW 450 product line and is based in Arlington, Va.

Khomphengchan started at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense nearly six months ago after graduating from Purdue University.

“My work day-to-day can vary depending on what I’m trying to model,” he said. “Because of the flexible nature of my role, I look forward to seeing how I can support various projects that pop up.”

Khomphengchan grew up enjoying math and science, which drew him to engineering and space. He finds the space industry as exciting now as he did when he was younger.

“You can never get bored in this industry,” he said. “To get anything up to space, there is such a collaborative effort of different disciplines.”

When asked what keeps Khomphengchan inspired in his career, he said his coworkers.

“Everyone I know here works hard at something they truly enjoy,” he said. “It’s hard not to be inspired.”

Outside work, Khomphengchan has enjoyed compiling a list of local restaurants and visiting a new spot each weekend. He also has been creating his own indie game.

Khomphengchan looks forward to the launch of the first 450 and seeing the different teams’ hard work paying off.
