Meet Elizabeth Sorrells

Meet Elizabeth Sorrells, a launch integration engineer located in Denver, Co., for the Skyfall program. Sorrells was initially drawn to the aerospace industry at a young age, having grown up in a military family.

“After several internships to figure out the day-to-day of what I wanted to do, the aerospace industry was an easy decision,” she said.

Prior to working on satellites at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense for the past one and a half years, Sorrells worked at United Launch Alliance. Starting on the rocket side of the business gave her valuable insight into the integrated launch system that helps in her work today.

In her current role, Sorrells focuses on coordination with customers, identification of subcontract engineering support, requirements verification, and execution of launch site processing.

“My favorite moments in this role have come when my communication and technical expertise have solved problems and prevented slips,” she said.

Outside of work, Sorrells enjoys spending time outdoors through hiking, hammocking, reading, or paddleboarding. She has visited 29 national parks so far and hopes to explore the remaining 34.

Looking ahead, Sorrells is excited for the first launch of A450 satellites next year, where she will oversee integration at the launch site.

“The A450 bus fills an important niche to help new tech get to space more quickly, and I’m honored to be part of the team making that happen.”
