Happy #EngineersWeek! Today we highlight Sabrina Chapman, our ATLO Launch Lead who is responsible for the successful planning and execution of launch campaigns along with ensuring the successful development of launch dispenser hardware.
Sabrina has been with Airbus for almost a year and states that the favorite part of her job is the collaborative aspect, “launch Integration on a mission is an extremely collaborative process between the ATLO Launch team and other departments. Because of that, my favorite thing about my job is how successful our engineering team is at cross-functional communicating and coordination. I love engaging with other people to help develop technical and logistical solutions in support of our programs.”
She is currently supporting the SDA Tranche 1, “one of my favorite parts of that effort so far has been developing the detailed launch operations flows and storyboards to summarize and communicate how we will be using customer-provided payload processing facility. I truly enjoy getting into the details of how we plan to execute launch our campaigns.”
Originally, Sabrina had been set on becoming a middle-school or high school French teacher, but then life ended up having a different plan for her. She had always enjoyed learning about STEM topics as a teenager, so later in life she decided to return to college to study computer science. “While there, I started to learn more about the space industry and satellites and decided that would be the path that I would pursue. Now, it’s over 15 years later and I am still extremely happy with my choice to become a space systems engineer.”
