Meet David Romo-Garza, our Head of Contracts based in Grand Prairie, Tx. He has worked at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense for more than three years while also working as a Reserve Officer in the United States Air Force. This year will be his 27th year of service before he retires this September.

David entered the contracts field early in his military service after Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Cameron Holt first pulled him into his career path. Then a fellow Airbus U.S. Space & Defense contracts Sr. Director Keith Kenne began mentoring him and helped shape his entire career, David said.

What sets David apart in his field is his diverse experience. He has worked multiple types of contracts, including Services, Construction, Research & Development, pre-award, post-award under DCMA, and Medical Services. He has also cross-trained in project management, risk management, and quality assurance.

David uses his experience to work on various projects at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense. Out of them all, the space program has become his favorite to work on thus far.

“I find the space program very interesting,” he said. “It’s designed to enhance warfighter capabilities and to protect national security.”

Of his many professional accomplishments, David is most proud of being chosen to compete and be selected for an Active-Duty Squadron command in 2019.

“To date, I am the only Reservist in Air Force Contracting to have been both selected to compete and be appointed to command as a result of the selection to an Active-Duty Squadron, an opportunity not given to many.”

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with family and pursuing his passion as a Black Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor at Gracie Barra in Fort Worth, Tx.

“Live life to the fullest but learn to do it efficiently, build credibility, and establish a strong reputation. The same applies to our jobs at Airbus and how we contribute to the overall mission.”
